About The Lens - Issue 18

Dear Steve,

The Lens is always such a joy to read.

I loved Paul's essay, especially the line "Trusting others is the essence of empowering them." I saw that sentiment echoed in your great article as well, when you experienced that your superintendent had faith in you.

The Healthy Eating article by Adam was *hilarious*! Oh my gosh, I have totally been there (I've been a vegetarian for 20 years and early on had a Kentucky Fried Chicken relapse with my head wedged into a bucket of deep-fried happiness...). The Selby's article was fascinating about the sun and moon sides of one's aura, and finding authentic passion. Tom Vona sounds like a natural — his willingness to listen to people indeed seems like a crucial key to help them feel empowered. I also resonated with Christa's conundrum and appreciated her take on the topic. I like how Domenico's spelled out the components of empowerment and I TOTALLY want to try the Reflected Best Self Exercise. Always love Kathleen's articles, and can tell that she is such an uplifting person — her words to the mother whose 5-year-old needs a heart transplant brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully said. And really enjoyed Robert's article about Jeremy Lin, who sounds like a quiet and powerful leader — it makes me want to learn more about him.

Thank you to all the contributors!
